The Unwin Honor Judging Panel 2025 applauded the extent of research, use data and the “influential, powerful power of Criado-Perez’s writing”, along with the influence of her service shaping plan, research and public discourse.

Physicist, oceanographer, broadcaster and Blue Maker author Helen Czerski (Penguin) is also included on the shortlist, and is commemorated for the method she utilizes data to “highlight sea science literacy and the important duty the seas play in sustaining life”. She is signed up with by reporter, author and filmmaker Afua Hirsch, the writer of Brit( ish): On Race, Identification and Belonging (Vintage)– for which she was awarded the Royal Society of Literary Works Jerwood Reward for Non-Fiction– who the courts commended for her exploration of nationwide identity post-Brexit.
