Ethics Complaint Against Nikole Hannah-Jones’s Spouse for Public Office Misuse

An ethics complaint was filed against Nikole Hannah-Jones's spouse for using an NYC educational panel meeting to promote his new bookstore, allegedly violating City Charter rules against using public office for personal financial gain.

“I can not believe I just listened to a member on NYC’s Panel for Educational Policy (PEP) plug he and his wife’s retail organization. Completely improper to use NYC’s college board to advertise his exclusive for-profit store,” she tweeted after the hearing.

Formal Complaint Filed Over Public Promotion

“Being that the July 29, 2026, [Panel for Educational Plan] hearing is an official proceeding of a City body, the participants’ seats and talking time exist to serve the general public’s service, not to promote the members’ personal industrial ventures,” fumed the guard dog team New York City Sound judgment in an Aug. 6 letter to the city’s Problems of Interest Board, which looks after the conduct of public authorities.

“The City’s disputes of interest regulation, Phase 68 of the New York City Charter, was composed with the exact rate of interest of preventing this blending of public office and personal gain,” acording to its letter to the COIB.

Spouse of 1619 Project Author Under Scrutiny

An ethics grievance has been slapped against the spouse of Nikole Hannah-Jones, the woke New york city Times scribe behind the questionable “1619 Job”– for shamelessly plugging his new book shop and bar at a current public-education conference he helped run.

Nikole has declared that America was “based on racism” and authored the “1619 Job,” which asserted that America’s beginning day occurred a century prior to the signing of the Declaration of Independence with the arrival of the first African servant.

“Charter Area 2604( b)( 3) gives that’ [n] o public slave will attempt or use to use his/her setting as a public servant to obtain any monetary gain, contract, license, benefit or other personal or personal benefit, straight or indirect, for the public slave or anybody or company associated with the public servant.”

Violating City Charter for Private Gain

During its July 29 hearing at the Secondary school for Style Industries in Chelsea, he utilized his talking time to promote that he and his other half Nikole are planning to open a bookstore in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn, that will press “banned” books.

“If it did, New Yorkers are worthy of to know that the Board takes seriously even relatively small uses of public workplace for private promo, because a society that tolerates little conflicts invites bigger ones. We professionally ask for that the Board evaluation this issue to identify whether Mr. Hannah-Jones’s conduct broke Phase 68 of the City Charter.”
