Neneh Cherry and Jenni Fagan longlisted for 2025 Women’s Prize for Non-Fiction

Kavita Puri, chair of courts, claimed: “Evaluating the Women’s Reward for Non-Fiction has been a big opportunity, and reviewing guides submitted has been both enlightening and improving. My fellow courts and I are very delighted with the selection of 16 books on this year’s longlist.

The 2025 Female’s Reward for Non-Fiction will be awarded on 12th June 2025 at the Women’s Prize Count on’s summer event in central London. The champion will receive a cheque for ₤ 30,000 and a limited-edition artwork referred to as the “Charlotte”, both gifted by the Charlotte Aitken Count On.

The Female’s Reward Trust fund– the UK charity developing equitable possibilities for women worldwide of books– revealed the longlist on Wednesday (12th February) for the 2nd year of the honor, which is funded by origins website Findmypast.

There is a strong Brit contingent with 11 of the 16 elections coming from British authors, including freshly elected MP Yuan Yang, palliative care physician Rachel Clarke and aquatic biologist Helen Scales. 6 of the authors are launchings. 5 of guides are published by Penguin Random Residence (PRH) with two from Hachette, two from Bloomsbury, one HarperCollins access et cetera from Independent authors.

Puri is joined on the judging panel by the writer and broadcaster Dr Leah Broad, whose job focuses on ladies’s cultural history; novelist and movie critic Elizabeth Buchan; writer and ecological scholastic Dr Elizabeth-Jane Burnett; and writer and author of The Hyphen e-newsletter on Substack, Emma Gannon.
